Associate Athletics Director, Inclusion, Leadership and Sport Administration

About the Opportunity:
The Associate AD will strategize, oversee and implement a plan to promote inclusion and to provide leadership training for student-athletes and staff. The Associate AD will possess and utilize knowledge and expertise to build coalitions, to be an effective advocate for racial justice and to connect with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Additionally, the Associate AD will serve as a sport administrator for multiple varsity teams, will direct and guide these programs, will collaborate with other department sport administrators and will attend home contests and travel with designated Northeastern sports teams.

Responsibilities:
Serve on AD's Executive Team with other senior level administrators and assist with strategic planning, advocacy and special projects.

  • Stay in tune with local, conference, national and industry dynamics to best inform and advise AD
  • Initiate and facilitate constructive dialogue that advances social justice initiatives.
  • Collaborate with all executive team members to enhance thought process and decision making.

    Leadership and Inclusion

  • Develop and oversee programming that enhances the student-athlete experience through the promotion of personal growth, in coordination with campus constituencies and outside resources.
  • Develop and enhance programs and initiatives that promote staff development.
  • Develop and implement programs that ensure diverse and inclusive role models and mentors
  • Collaborate with SASS, Sports Performance and campus colleagues to coordinate and advance initiatives
  • Assist with oversight of Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

    Sport Administration

  • Guide and advocate for sports program success in alignment with Athletics 2025
  • Directly supervise head coach and oversee program staff.
  • Cultivate and advance relationships with all program staff and constituents including students, coaches, support staff, alumni, parents, and other campus and external partners.
  • Regularly assess program goals, objectives and operations.
  • Regularly attend practices and home games; travel occasionally to away competitions.

    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of 6 years of full-time collegiate experience leading diversity and inclusion initiatives in higher education combined with a strong desire to work in intercollegiate athletics. Outstanding leadership and communication skills that demonstrate the ability to identify and develop initiatives and bring people together around shared goals. Robust organizational and managerial skills that provide clear and coordinated strategic and logistical plans. Ability to multi-task and achieve results. Key competencies include identification and prioritization of responsibilities and tasks, problem solving/analysis, verbal and written communication proficiency, ethical conduct, time management and protection of organization's value through exercising discretion with confidential information. Must be able to work proactively and independently. Master's degree and NCAA Division I experience preferred.
