Assistant Athletic Director, Athletic Communications

Summary:
The Assistant Athletic Director, Athletic Communications is responsible for the internal and external media distribution for Stevenson University's Athletic department. Reporting to the Athletic Director, the AD-SID is part of the Athletic Department's management team and provides administrative leadership by overseeing the Assistant Sports Information Director, the Athletic Videographer, the Sports Writer, the Graduate Assistant, Student Employees and Interns. The AD/SID is also responsible for all aspects of Marketing of the Athletic Department (i.e., SUTV, Video Boards, Social Media, Media Guides, Posters, Schedule Cards, Radio Broadcast, etc.).

Education/Experience:
Bachelor Degree in related field plus five years of Sports Information experience with experience in web design, Stat-crew, Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.), Adobe and other publishing software preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proficiency in technical and computer skills including MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Web Design, Stat-Crew, Adobe, the Internet and other relevant software, plus operation of standard office equipment.
  • Proficiency in new social media and file management software including technical and computer skills related to the fully utilization of the marketing tools including Facebook, Dropbox, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Flickr, Shutterfly, Frontrush, Logmein, Tri-Casters, and other relevant software.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor issues with portable and peripheral office/business tools.
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions on sensitive, confidential issues and the ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Knowledge of the University structure, policies and procedures or ability to acquire knowledge in a short period of time.
  • Evening and weekend hours in all types of weather, as coverage for athletic events (including practice and games) is a necessity for the care of our student athletes.
  • Ability to travel with teams.


Physical Requirements:
Light Work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Position involves both inside sedentary. Evening and weekend hours in all types of weather, with travel between campuses necessary. Lifting required (i.e., set-up of scorers table, etc.), some manual labor is expected. Because of the location of athletic facilities on each campus, organizing and some transportation between campuses is expected.

Essential Functions:
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the media and other sports information end-users for the 27 mens and womens varsity sports.
  • Handle all aspects of sports information, including but not limited to: design and maintenance of athletics web site; production of media guides and game programs; recruitment and supervision of student assistants; the writing of several department publications including recruiting literature for individual sports teams; management of press box/table, statistics and reporting of results; recording and archiving of school records and serving as primary athletic department media liaison with the NCAA and each of our member conferences.
  • Provide daily information to coaches and administration regarding sports info, media, web-design, etc.
  • Schedule, oversee and supervise Assistant Sports Information Director, Videographer, Sports Writing, graduate assistant, student workers, and interns assigned to game day coverage.
  • Work closely with Marketing & Digital Communication office to coordinate joint efforts in developing publications such as Ventures, the Athletic View book, the Villager, and recruiting and marketing brochures.
  • Develop and implement an extensive marketing plan to coincide with the colleges strategic plan. This will include developing billboards, radio ads, print ads, and the promotion and marketing.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
