Job Description

The University of Nevada, Athletics department is recruiting for an Accounting Assistant 3. This position supports the business office with transactional accounting functions, administrative support, and sports camps. The position maintains expenditure ledgers and monitors the budget; resolves complex reconciliation issues; develops and maintains internal shadow budgets or budget tracking spreadsheets; advises on appropriate and allowable expenses; approves expenditures; monitors day to day operation of sports camps and clinics, and provides additional administrative support as necessary.

Required Qualifications

This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track organize and report data; researching and interpreting financial to data prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR one (1) year of experience as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs as occasional evenings or Saturday hours may be required for special events. Occasional travel may be required.

Compensation Grade

Grade 27 (Entry, Step 01 $17.80/hr. - Step 05 $20.97/hr )

The classified employee pay scale is divided into 10 steps. Most employees start at a step 1 and are eligible for an annual step increase with satisfactory performance, until they reach the maximum, step 10. Initial step placement is based on experience and qualifications. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets.
