Scope of Job:
Administrates and operates the wellness, recreation, and fitness components of the University Recreation Department. Responsible for providing top-level administrative skills in the daily planning, development, and operation of a comprehensive wellness and recreational sports' program.
Description of Duties:
Supervises, leads, and manages the wellness and recreational sports department staff and the day to day operational activities of .its associated facilities.
Directs all financial operations including but not limited to revenue generation, purchases, and vendor expenses.
Manages facility utilization priority with regard to recreation, camps, rental, and special events.
Supervises facility maintenance, cleanliness, functionality, and safety.
Develops and supervises budget preparation, maintenance, and reconciliation.
Implements and oversees intramurals, club sports, group fitness, rock wall, outdoor adventure activities and aquatics programs.
Establishes long and short term goals as well as conducts strategic planning.
Develops, implements, and executes departmental policies and procedures.
Directs compliance with University policies and regulations.
Represents the department in official functions, meetings, conferences, and committees.
Develops and cultivates relationships with departments, agencies, and other organizations.
Performs related duties as required.
Supervision Received:
General direction from the assigned supervisor.
Supervision Given:
Direct supervision of assigned staff.
Required Education:
Masters Degree in Health Education, or closely related field from an Accredited University.

Licenses/Certifications:
None.
Required Experience:
Five (5) years of experience in the operation and management of a recreational facility, including knowledge in marketing, managing exercise programs, overseeing pool operations, outdoor adventure activities, intramurals and club sports.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with fitness equipment as well as exercise and fitness methods and trends.
Experience with facility maintenance and maintenance methods.
Equipment:
Use of standard office equipment.
Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Usual office environment.
Other:
Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and administrators. Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects on a long-term basis. Ability to develop and articulate potential projects and future needs of the program and demonstrate and justify growth and assemble the appropriate group to develop resources for major renovation of construction projects.
