Summary
University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis is currently seeking a Fitness Center Manager to lead University fitness center operations, programming, and participant experience for our 1100-person University community. This includes managing personal training, group exercise and providing hiring, management, and supervision of fitness staff and student workers. The manager will develop fitness related programs and services within the established budget to meet participation goals, and potentially drive revenue from new programs. Our goal is to exceed participants expectations in the areas of member experience, satisfaction, participant service, and achieving their personal goals. Initially, the position may be split performing management/programming duties and performing personal training or teach small group training.


Qualifications
To succeed in this role you will need:
  • Undergraduate Degree required in related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in fitness management, including prior supervisory experience.
  • Strategic and tactical management skills, self-directed and visionary.
  • Must hold a current, nationally recognized personal or athletic trainer certification (ACE, NCSA or ACSM preferred).
  • Experience with fitness industry member management software is desired and a demonstrated ability to learn new software applications.
  • Basic knowledge of fitness equipment, service, and maintenance is desired.
  • Strongly developed participant service skills as demonstrated through prior work experiences are required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access)
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills are required.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification required; Professional Rescuer preferred. Training provided if expired.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends is required.
  • Physically must be able to bend, stoop, carry, and lift up to 50 lbs as well as assist with larger lifts.
